What would you do if you were attacked by a man?

Let me tell you how I overcame my worst of fears.
And, how I gained more confidence than I ever thought possible.

On a Saturday in December... the time of year when it is dark at 9:00 p.m. I was walking home from shopping with my hands full of packages. Suddenly out of the gloom, a man ran toward me. I wondered if it was someone I knew. To my shock he suddenly assaulted me! Packages dropped to the sidewalk. My world had now become a terrifying place. Though I wasn't hurt, from that day on I was extremely uneasy in the dark... even in my own neighbourhood. Worse, for the first time in my life, I was terrified of strangers.

These fears stayed with me for 15 long years until I found the solution: My daughter started taking Kung Fu lessons at Sifu Sergio's Academy as an extracurricular activity. I watched her gaining self confidence and self discipline. I wanted part of that! After taking only a few classes in his self defence program, my 15 years of fear started to evaporate. I started to feel a restored sense of confidence. Though I'm only a small woman, I no longer felt helpless, vulnerable or scared of being alone anywhere. In fact, the benefits of my Wing Chun training are effective in many other areas of my life. At work, I am no longer abashed by demanding costumers, just because I know I can deal with them physically and mentally!

2nd Internal: Through our special RFP (Ritual Fight Programs) students will learn de-escalation techniques and situation awareness. "A good structured curriculum"

  • Sadly enough in a lot of schools, instructors do "what they like at that moment" (just suppose you're paying thousand of dollars, to go to a university that hasn't got a curriculum and the teachers just teach "what they want without any structure"). We do not do this.
  • At Kung Fu Sydney it's all about systems, we have 6 degrees, especially for the orientation class student.
  • For those who want to take it a step further, we have a complete 12 level student curriculum to the Black Belt and further on, it's possible to get 4 technician and 4 Master Levels.

Reason #5

"Info direct from China and Hong Kong"

  • All of our instructors are trained by Sifu Sergio, who lives in China and is known worldwide as "the encyclopedia of Wing Chun.
    The instructors are trained on a regular basis to ensure that the system, style, principles and philosophy will be transferd to all students of our academy.
  • The whole team meets weekly to evaluate and train. To make sure that the goals our students work so hard on, are being solidly attained.
  • Train with instructors who really know how to teach. (instructors need to undertake at least two years of internship before they can teach independently).

What can you expect from a Kung Fu class?
As a student of Kung Fu your training will done in a group, but with specific attention and personal guidance.

Your skill as a student will extend and improve over time as the instructors impart the knowledge in a way that is both natural and in a relaxed atmosphere. Right from the first lesson new students will have a far greater awareness on how to defend themselves. The first half-year of your training you will trained to defend yourself in the most practical and logical way.

In the beginning of your training the emphasis will not be so much on the art, or philosophy and the beauty of the Kung Fu system, but more on the motions and body motor skills, which have been proven to be very effective time after time. The programs taught in our Kung Fu schools are the same the world over, to ensure all our students get the best preparation possible a situation that hopefully will never occur.

The later and more advanced stage, when your capability to defend yourself has grown, changes in contact reflexes will be trained. Here, students will study how a so-called weakness can turn into strength, how softness overcomes hardness. How victory will be achieved by surrendering and the person who uses intelligence will prevail by yielding. The skill and principles learned and applied physically will also be able to be applied in daily life. This implies that you will go through life in a lively state and full of awareness. It's through this training that you will enhance your ability to communicate with empathy and respect. As a long-term goal, to accomplish this, one must conquer a variety of personal and physical obstacles.
